RHS FBLA/DECA
The combination of two national business organizations form a cohesive club in which we encourage our members to participate in our three focuses: competition, community service, and social activities.
Rhinelander FBLA/DECA combines two business-oriented national organizations into one joint club at Rhinelander High School. DECA's focus on marketing and soft skills, such as self-presentation and communication skills, compliments FBLA's general focus on the knowledge and background on any one career cluster. Being a part of both organizations also gives our chapter double the opportunity when it comes to competition, conferences, and awards. As a chapter, we concentrate our efforts in three areas: competition, community service, and social activities. Through involvement in our organization, our members are prepared for a future in any field and are equipped with the universal skills necessary in the workplace.

“FBLA/DECA is a club that I believe every person in high school should join. The club teaches so many important skills that will be extremely useful in the future. For me personally, the club has taught me how to communicate in a professional manner and many helpful skills of business, specifically in Hospitality, which is the area I competed in for DECA. Competition has taught me to communicate ideas effectively and to be able to think on my feet. There are a lot of fun clubs to be involved with in high school, but FBLA/DECA is extremely important because everyone, at some point in their life, will have to deal with business, whether it’s running a company or looking for a job. Overall, FBLA/DECA is a fantastic club and contributes largely not only to RHS, but to the community as a whole through community service and volunteering.”
~ Carmen Ibarra, Alumni "Being involved in FBLA/DECA is one of my fondest memories and best decisions I made throughout my high school career. Both national organizations develop valuable skills which are universally applicable to any career field, though members of each organization are encouraged to explore careers in business and marketing related fields. Nonetheless, as an aspiring healthcare professional I found that FBLA/DECA was extremely helpful in teaching me how to network, communicate effectively while considering various social contexts, be an independent learner, and give back to the community, all of which I will use to become a more understanding, compassionate, and exceptional surgeon. I emphasize this fact because throughout my time as an FBLA/DECA member I found the reason for many students not getting involved was because they simply weren’t interested in business and ruled it out. I assure you, FBLA/DECA is not only for those interested in business, and you owe it to yourself as a high school student to explore as many career paths as possible! Although I loved the professional aspect of FBLA and DECA and attribute much of my professional growth solely to these organizations, I also became an FBLA/DECA member to get more involved in my community and meet other students. With events like Trick or Can, Letters to Santa, Jeans for Teens, Fall Fest, Adopt a Highway, Miracle Minutes, or volunteering at Ruby’s Pantry, I learned how genuinely enjoyable and fulfilling it is to give back to the community. If you only read one line of my testimony I hope it is this: whoever you are, whatever your interests, goals, and passions, there is a place for you in FBLA/DECA and I guarantee you will grow both personally and professionally through your involvement in this incredible organization!"
~ Haley Sisel, Alumni "One of the best decisions I made in high school was joining FBLA/DECA. I learned not only how to be successful outside of a high school classroom, but also how a determined group of students can impact a community."
